These days, it seems like everyone wants to be a singer-songwriter, and for a good reason. Today we’re going to be looking at some of the best vocalists of all time.

Aretha Franklin

Also known as The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin rose to fame with songs like “I Say a Little Prayer for You” and “Respect,” songs that are easily household favorites now. She also starred in the 1980s fan-favorite film “Blues Brothers,” where she performed her song “Think.”

Elton John

This pop icon skyrocketed to stardom in the seventies with the iconic song “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” He’s dabbled in different genres of music, helping write songs for Disney’s “The Lion King” and even Broadway’s hit musical “Aida.” He most recently had a biopic made about him, “Rocketman.”

Freddie Mercury

This absolute star, in his own right, is one of the most well-known voices in the entire world. He rose to fame as the frontman of the most well-known band Queen. Some of his hits include “Don’t Stop Me Now” and the iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody.” One of his most iconic performances is with the band during the charity for Africa in the 1980s, Live Aid. In 1987, he recorded an album alongside a well-known operatic singer Montserrat Caballe, which just shows his vocalistic range. Bohemian Rhapsody was a biopic that was recently made about his life and the culmination of Queen.

Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra is easily known as the godfather of blue-eyed soul. His distinct, rich baritonal voice is easily distinguishable with his iconic songs “Fly Me to the Moon” and “The Way You Look Tonight.” He’s also an actor who stars in movies such as “Tony Mage” and “The Detective.” He’s had a controversial past but is still inspiring vocalists today like Michael Bublé.

David Bowie

This star in his own right, aptly nicknamed Starman, is well known for always pushing the envelope when it came to style and artistic ethos, though he also had the incredible voice to match. Bowie also took part in the cult classic Jim Henson film “The Labyrinth,” playing the villain of the movie. One of his most iconic songs is “Under Pressure,” a song that he filmed with Freddie Mercury.
